Not many of you will know that Beast Components is part of a group that comprises three companies. In addition to Beast Components we also represent CarboLife Technologies and Realize Engineering.
The founding members of these companies got to know each other while studying Lightweight Engineering at the TU Dresden. This university institute is one of just a few hotspots for lightweight engineering in Europe. As an independent development team at the Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen – a centre for lightweight engineering in Dresden – they have been working on projects for prominent companies in the aerospace, automotive and marine industries for many years. With each project, they continuously developed their knowledge and acquired the expertise that now provides the basis for all three companies.
CarboLife is a successful medical technology company and produces a wide range of carbon components for wheelchairs as well as a unique portfolio of ergonomic handrims that makes life easier for wheelchair users all over the world.
Realize Engineering is a development service provider specializing in high-tech lightweight engineering. The company has a particular wealth of experience in the aerospace industry. These experienced engineers work on major projects for a wide range of companies.
Beast Components was founded in 2016. Because of our origins, we attach great importance to using the latest scientific methods and state-of-the-art technology. Our close cooperation with the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology at the TU Dresden and our partner company Realize Engineering helps us to achieve this.
The combination of quality, durability and minimum weight is top priority at Beast Components because we want our products to pass the toughest industrial tests. We are particularly proud of the fact that the entire value-added chain is in our hands and that every aspect of every product – from development and design to production and testing – takes place on our premises. Every product is handmade in Germany.
We are proud to deliver handmade quality from Germany – it’s all about craftsmanship. Craftsmanship lives through the people who ply their trade; through their experience, knowledge and commitment. We work with the best tools: our own hands.
We believe that quality lies in understanding every step of the production process. Anne works the cutter, Pascal is on lamination, Dimi does the grinding, Kilian tests and Linda packs. Our small, exclusive production site guarantees short channels. Everyone knows each other and we’re all part of the Beast family. This is the only way that we can manufacture unique products and guarantee consistent quality.
We believe that quality is defined by top-class workmanship, durability, unparalleled performance, and of course how the product looks! At Beast Components, components are simply demoulded, the protruding burrs are removed and finally they are finished. The result is that the fibre structure of the carbon remains clearly visible. This procedure is mercilessly honest and there is no margin for error during the laminating process. The only way to get this classy look and to get the most out of carbon is to work with precision. You get what you see – pure carbon! We don’t need to hide our components under a layer of paint.
Do you know where your bike components come from? Where they’re made? Who makes them? And under what conditions? Let’s be honest, we’re often only concerned with how components look. With whether they catch our eye. Now and then the brand behind the product also plays a role and so does the price, of course.
But things get scary when we look behind the scenes. 98% of carbon components are produced in Asian countries such as China, Vietnam and Bangladesh. Masses of workers stand in huge halls under poor, sometimes unhealthy working conditions to produce parts that are sold for lots of money. We see this approach as profit maximization at the expense of others. Every day, we at Beast Components receive a number of emails from Asia offering to make our products at a considerably lower price. We could probably make a lot of money and move to fancy offices or designer showrooms. But we’re not going to. We don’t want to. We don’t need to. We are aware of our responsibility and face the challenge to produce high-quality handmade bike components in Germany and to pay our workers a fair wage.
You get components with the perfect balance of stability and low weight, a fantastic look and high-quality, sturdy, durable carbon components that you can trust entirely.
We manage our company in a social and sustainable manner. We use only the best materials and state-of-the-art technology, from cutters to CNC milling machines. We also work with regional partners, such as the small Dresden-based saddlery that upholsters our saddles by hand.
Almost no consumer today has the opportunity to gain an insight into product components, production processes and, last but not least, production conditions. That’s not the case with us, because we believe in transparency and close contact with our dealers and end customers. We love what we do and are fully invested in what we stand for. You’re welcome to visit the Beast production site in person and see for yourself.
If you have any questions, suggestions or requests, we’ll be happy to advise you and are always available to answer your questions in person.
